We have two positions available, both shift work, to operate the “Festoon” and other associated machinery in our manufacturing process. This is semi skilled labour and you will be trained on the job. Elements of the job can be quite physical.
You will be required to work a total of 40 hours per week, with 38 hours paid at the basic rate and the additional 2 hours is paid at 1.5 times the basic rate. Hourly rate is above minimum wage. There is a paid 20 minute break per shift.
Shifts are 6am to 2pm, 2pm to 10pm, or 10pm to 6am and the pattern rotates backwards weekly (nights, afternoons, days).
The first shift of each week commences Monday 6am. The final shift of the week is 10pm on a Friday (ends 6am Saturday).
A reasonable amount of overtime is required (to cover leave/absence of operators on other shifts) and sometimes without notice. This usually involves working five shifts of 12 hours, and the additional hours paid at time and a half. For this reason, you will be required to waive your rights under the Working Time Regulations 1998.
We offer 23 days annual leave. Bank Holidays are in addition.
The Role Holder is required to undertake tasks in the ‘Festoon’ and ‘Finishing’ area of the factory including making up mixes, loading and impregnating paper, taking off finished material in roll format, monitoring the operations of moving machinery and managing work schedules, carry out routine repair and maintenance tasks, operate other machinery in the factory such as Printing, Slitting and Trimming machinery.
