On Thursday 24 September, Jointine Products (Lincoln) Ltd will once again open its doors in support of Make UK’s National Manufacturing Day – inviting people behind the scenes to discover more about British manufacturing, our production processes and the international journey our products take from Lincoln to customers around the world.
Manufacturing is all around us. It supports the cars we drive, the infrastructure we depend upon, the food and water supply chains we rely on and countless products and services that form part of everyday life.
Yet, how often do people actually get to step inside a manufacturing business and see how things are made?
That is exactly what National Manufacturing Day 2026 aims to change…
Taking place on Thursday 24 September, National Manufacturing Day is Make UK’s nationwide celebration of British manufacturing, bringing manufacturers, schools and communities together and encouraging businesses across the country to open their doors.
For the fifth year, participating manufacturers will provide a behind-the-scenes look at modern manufacturing – showcasing not only what Britain makes, but the technology, skills and people that make it possible.
At Jointine Products, we are proud to be taking part once again.
Opening the doors to British manufacturing
National Manufacturing Day provides an opportunity for schools, colleges, customers, local communities and the wider public to experience manufacturing first-hand.
Factory tours, demonstrations and conversations with the people working within the sector can help challenge some of the outdated perceptions of what a career in manufacturing looks like.
Modern manufacturing encompasses engineering, technology, materials, automation, international trade, sales, logistics, digitalisation and much more. It also offers an enormous variety of career opportunities.
By allowing people to see those environments for themselves, National Manufacturing Day aims to inspire the next generation, introduce people to careers they may never previously have considered and help manufacturers develop stronger relationships with their communities.
For Jointine Products, that makes opening our doors worthwhile…
From Lincoln to more than 50 countries worldwide
Visitors to Jointine Products will have the opportunity to see our own manufacturing processes in action and learn more about the journey behind the gasket papers we produce here in Lincoln.
Jointine is a family-owned British manufacturer, producing materials including Flexoid®, Sizoid®, Oakenstrong® and Cranflex® for customers and applications around the world.

More than 95% of our production is exported, reaching customers across more than 50 countries.
Our open day, therefore, provides an opportunity not only to see how our products are manufactured, but also to learn more about the role international trade and export play within a relatively small British manufacturing business.
From raw materials and production through to quality, documentation and eventually getting our products across international borders, there is considerably more behind a roll of gasket paper than might first meet the eye.
Three years of opening our doors on this day
National Manufacturing Day has become an event we are particularly pleased to support, with 2026 marking the third year that Jointine has supported the initiative and opened its doors.
For myself, as Managing Director, allowing people to see manufacturing first-hand is an important part of challenging perceptions of the sector.
We are incredibly proud of what we manufacture here in Lincoln and of the fact that products made by our team ultimately reach customers all over the world. National Manufacturing Day gives us an opportunity to open the doors and show people what that actually looks like.
Manufacturing is about so much more than a production line. It involves people, skills, problem-solving, quality, technology, logistics and, particularly for Jointine, international trade.
If opening our doors helps a customer understand our business better, introduces somebody to manufacturing for the first time or encourages a young person to consider a career they hadn’t previously thought about, then it is absolutely worthwhile.
UK gasket and sealing manufacturers as one
Jointine will not be alone in supporting National Manufacturing Day. We are delighted to be taking part alongside fellow members of the UK Gasket & Sealing Association (UKGSA), with four member businesses opening their doors as part of this year’s initiative.
Alongside Jointine Products (Lincoln) Ltd, Kewell Converters Ltd, Moontown Ltd and RGH Converting are also confirmed as participating.
Across the open days, visitors will have opportunities to experience the gasket and sealing industry at work, including manufacturing processes, engineering, production facilities and conversations with the people behind the businesses.
Gaskets and seals themselves can often go unnoticed, but they perform essential roles across applications ranging from vehicles and aircraft to industrial machinery and vital supply chains.
Opening the industry’s doors provides an opportunity to make the invisible a little more visible.
Celebrating what Britain makes – and who makes it
For us, National Manufacturing Day isn’t simply about showing somebody around a factory. It’s an opportunity to celebrate the contribution manufacturing makes to the UK, share knowledge and demonstrate the breadth of opportunities that exist within the sector.
It’s also a chance for manufacturers themselves to engage with the people around them. The future of British manufacturing will depend upon attracting new skills and talent, embracing new technology and continuing to innovate.
Sometimes, inspiring somebody to become part of that future can begin with something remarkably simple: Opening the door.
Jointine Products is proud to support National Manufacturing Day 2026 on Thursday 24 September and to join manufacturers across the country in celebrating our industry.
