Jointine wins “highly commended” at prestigious Midlands Manufacturing Award
Jointine is highly commended for prestigious Midlands Manufacturing Award
Jointine Products has been revealed as one of the Highly Commended businesses in the 2019 Midlands Family Business Awards, for the Manufacturing Excellence category.
Both winners and highly commended family businesses of the 10th Midlands Family Business Awards were announced at a prestigious black-tie awards ceremony on 7 November, held at the King Power Stadium in Leicester.
12 winners and 22 highly commended companies were selected from 51 previously announced finalists, showcasing the most impressive, talented and innovative family-owned businesses across the region.
To reach the winning and highly commended spots, finalists met with an independent judging panel – led by a family business leader, industry expert and category sponsor –and all finalists were entered into the People’s Choice Award – the only award voted for externally by the public.
The Manufacturing Excellence category, celebrates family business manufacturers of any size, across all industries, that can demonstrate success against a broad range of measures.
Judges for this category are looking at the management structure of businesses and how decisions are made, how family values and family members have guided the development of the business. They are also looking for key qualities that make businesses a candidate for the Manufacturing Excellence award, for example; product and market development, financial growth and success, process development, how skilled workers are found and retained, plans for the business and how current and future generations will be involved.
Attended by over 300 guests – including awards finalists, independent judges and sponsors – the awards were bigger than ever as attendees celebrated not just the achievements of the family businesses but also the milestone of the awards; reaching its tenth year of championing family businesses.
Jane Smith, Managing Director at Jointine, says “I am overwhelmed to receive this special commendation, especially considering the calibre of the other companies we were up against. Charlotte and her team at The Wilson Organisation made organising this prestigious event look like a piece of cake, and we were treated warmly and respectfully at every stage. To receive the commendation is amazing but the greater joy is the new like-minded friends that I have made as a result of entering“.
Organised and backed by The Wilson Organisation – a Nottingham-based, third-generation family business – the annual not-for-profit Midlands Family Business Awards celebrate and recognise the success, achievements and innovations of family-run businesses, and raise funds for local charities.
Group managing director of The Wilson Organisation, Charlotte Perkins, said: “Being the only independent and not for profit awards of its kind, the Midlands Family Business Awards has a sole focus on celebrating and showcasing the hugely positive impact our regions’ family businesses have on our economy by supporting those companies and building communities of like-minded professionals.
“It is always a pleasure to meet and learn about the many incredible businesses across the midlands and our judging panels truly had their work cut out this year thanks to the sheer quality of entries. A huge well done to all those who have been successful tonight – both winners and highly commended– the achievements of your businesses are very impressive and the awards will hopefully be a lasting reminder of that.”
